Off-road ABS shortens braking distances.The standard anti-lock brake system (ABS) is not the only support given to you by the Amarok when braking hard. Off-road ABS, which can be activated at the touch of a button, has been developed specially for unpaved tracks. Controlled wheel lock pushes loose surfaces in front of the wheels which form brake chocks. This can shorten braking distances considerably. | |
| ESP – can also be combined with 4MOTION.The electronic stabilisation programme prevents the vehicle from breaking away – this system is standard in the Amarok. With the help of data supplied by sensors, brake power is built up for directional stability. ESP also takes information on the load status into consideration. The system is synchronised with the functions of the anti-lock brake system, traction control system (TCS) and engine braking control (EBC) and remains active even when 4MOTION all-wheel drive is switched on. |
Driving uphill? The Amarok helps you.Even with the maximum trailer load of 2.8 t, the Amarok can cope with 12% gradients. The standard hill holder and hill descent assist help you in mountainous or hilly regions – whether with or without a trailer. It prevents the vehicle rolling back when driving off and brakes automatically on downhill gradients. Additional safety when towing a trailer is given by ESP trailer stabilisation. An electronic differential lock and emergency brake signal complete the standard safety equipment of the Amarok. | |
Equipped with the latest airbag technology.
Should the worst come to the worst in spite of all the safety systems, you are protected by modern technologies in the Amarok. The standard specification of the pickup includes airbags for the driver and front passenger, and head/thorax airbags integrated in the outer sides of the front seats for protection in the event of side impact.
